Invite to Mount Albert Grammar School Tree Planting Day — Sunday June 16

June 12th, 2019

Dear ASB MAGS Farm Neighbours,

At the ASB MAGS Farm, our plans to demonstrate good farming practice are coming to fruition and we will be planting the paddock next to the stream with native seedlings provided under the Trees for Survival programme.

You are invited to our planting on Sunday 16 June 10am — 2pm (rain date 23 June) by staff, students, friends and neighbours.

Watercare, which is building the nearby Central Interceptor wastewater tunnel, are kindly providing food and a barbecue for the event. A coffee cart will also be available.

You do not have to plant any trees to attend but if you would like to talk to MAGS and Watercare staff about the farm enhancement, please RSVP at the email address below.

Kind regards,

Esther Hancock

STEPS are 2019 Albert Eden Local Heroes

May 29th, 2019

STEPS was delighted to receive an award from the Albert Eden Local Board this month recognising our environmental and community work on Waitītiko Meola Creek. Further, Committee member Nick Goldwater’s leading role in guiding the restoration of the STEPS wetland in the Roy Clements Treeway was recognised by a well deserved individual award.  Sel Arbuckle was named a “Super Hero” for his work on lava rock forests across the Auckland isthmus, and in a range of different communities. Congratulations to Nick and Sel.

Below is the post from Roy Clements who in addition to guiding and supporting us, and participating in STEPS” events, also attended the Local Heroes Ceremony (and took photos!).
