Mountain to Sea Walk

March 11th, 2018

It was a great morning out on Saturday’s Mountain to Sea (first third) walk!  A great thanks to Neil, Margaret, Mike, Liz, Sam, Eleanor, Aria, Stefan, Sel, Rowan, Lochie, Roy (Clements), and Liz (second Liz) for coming along and making it a fun experience.

Special mention has to go to the kids who travelled so well, Rowan for providing the delicious brownie, and Stefan and Sel for bringing expertise about the places we were in.

Look out for the next Mountain to Sea Walk in a couple of months time, which will follow the stream much more closely and through a much more natural and pleasant setting, including the Roy Clements Treeway.

March 9th, 2018

NEIGHBOURS’ DAY!

Sat 24TH MARCH,  3pm-5pm

@ KERR TAYLOR RESERVE (end of Fergusson Ave)

We had fantastic Neighbours’ days in recent years, so please join us and get to know your old and new neighbours even better!

We again received a $200 grant from our Albert-Eden Local Board, which we plan to use for

– a bouncy castle for the kids (from 3pm on, needs supervision)

– a basic organic sausages sizzle & pita bread

Please bring a salad or dessert or nibbles & BYO drinks of any kind to share, your own plates, cutlery and glasses.

Please RSVP if you can so we know how many sausages to get. Please let us know if you require gluten-free or vegetarian food.

Mountain to Sea Walk – March 2018

March 4th, 2018

On Saturday the 10th of March, STEPS will be walking, for the first time, the first stage of the Meola Waititiko Mountain to Sea Walk, from Mt Albert Owairaka to Kerr Taylor Reserve.

Come and join us! Its a chance to learn about the headwaters and some geography of Meola Waititiko, while stretching your legs in good company.   Kids welcome, so bring the whole family.

Details of the walk can be found here: http://www.meolacreek.org.nz/meola-waititiko-mountain-to-sea-walk/ .  We are only walking the first section, which is just under 3km, and we will be taking our time.

Meet at 10am at the trig station on the highest point of Mt Albert Owairaka, on Saturday 10th March, and finish in Kerr Taylor reserve, for a cold drink.

For those driving or biking to the start, there will be cars at the end to shuttle walkers back to their cars or bikes.

If weather looks poor, see https://www.meolacreek.org.nz/ on the day at 8am to check for cancellation.

We hope to see you there!
